This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for May 21, 2009:
What is your wish for the week ahead?
That Laurinda Drake gets aquitted of all charges.
Only the most corrupt educational system can produce one of the most well-funded school districts (over $10,000 per child) that has one of the three worst results in the nation.
The corruption includes political lynchings such as what is happening with Laurinda Drake and myself. The corruption includes stealing and misappropriation of funds. The corruption includes the biggest and best cover-ups they can devise in a system that is replete with loopholes of accountability, "strong men" and "pitbulls" that do the dirty work of silencing the whistleblowers and those who would seek transparency in our government.
Laurdina Drake found a lost boy and returned him to the people responsible for his well-being until they could find his mother. She is facing prison for doing that. She could have been like every one else and just let that little boy walk off and get lost in Las Vegas for good. But she didn't. She could have let that little boy get lost in the corruption of the degradation by profiling that the School District attempted to pursue, but she didn't. She could have let the little boy become a statistic of lost and missing children -- she didn't. Her compassion for his well being eclipsed her being and she undertook the responsibility that his mom needed when our failing school district dropped its most important ball.
